A 62-year-old man and his cat died in a fire at a Long Beach home overnight.

By the time firefighters arrived at the scene on Peabody Street, the house was fully engulfed. The blaze occurred at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

The man was found in the living room along with his pet. It's believed he was somewhat disabled.

Investigators say the fire likely started in the kitchen, but the exact cause was under investigation.
