A youth soccer coach from West Covina is under arrest, suspected of sending inappropriate text messages to an 11-year-old girl on his team.

Albert Gutierrez, 45, has been charged with contacting a minor with intent to commit certain offenses.

Police say the girl told her mom about the texts, and that the mother confronted Gutierrez. Investigators say he apologized for sending the texts. The mom then contacted Covina police last month.

Gutierrez was arrested at his home without incident on Wednesday. He was released on bail and scheduled for arraignment on Feb. 13.

Investigators are concerned there may be other victims and are asking any to contact Covina police at (626) 384-5615.
