An investigation is under way after a 72-year-old gardener was found dead at the bottom of a swimming pool in Sunland.

A family living on the 10900 block of Meseta Avenue called authorities late Tuesday night to report the man missing. They thought something was strange because the gardener's truck was still at the house well past the time he usually leaves.

While police were on their way, a family member looked in the backyard and found the gardener at the bottom of the pool with a leaf blower strapped to his back.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
