LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- It's getting heated at the Los Angeles Fire Department -- but it's not because of a fire.
Firefighters across the city took to the kitchen to show off their culinary skills for the second annual Firehouse Challenge Cook-Off.
Inspired by cooking shows, firefighters square off to wow judges with a signature dish.
The competition has been narrowed down to two finalists: Captain Mark Curry and Cruz Macias. They will compete in the final showdown on September 1.
The cook-off happened at the Los Angeles Times, and the final challenge culminates on Labor Day weekend at the L.A. Times Labor Day Block Party.
