Paramount schools on lockdown over report of gunman in area

Three schools in Paramount were put on lockdown as sheriff's deputies investigated reports of a gunman in the area Friday.

Authorities responded to the area of Rosecrans and Downey avenues just before 11 a.m.

Paramount High School, Roosevelt Elementary School and Wirtz Elementary School were placed on lockdown as deputies searched the area.

Deputies took one person into custody, but no details were immediately available on the arrest. The lockdown was lifted at about 3:30 p.m.
