Martial arts black-belt leads SoCal anti-bullying program

SAN DIMAS, Calif. (KABC) -- A school-wide bullying prevention program led by celebrity martial arts instructor Chris Casamassa launched in Southern California on Monday.

The program is called "Mission: Bully Proof" and it kicked off in San Dimas on Monday at Sutherland Elementary School.

Casamassa, who holds an 8th-degree black belt, says parents should encourage their kids to take these three steps if they are being bullied:

"First of all is to tell. We want them to tell a teacher, tell the principal, and definitely tell their parents that that's happening to them," said Casamassa. "Number two, try and stay away from that kid if they can, if at all possible. Third thing is just make sure that they report it."

The anti-bullying initiative will soon roll out to other greater Los Angeles-area elementary schools in honor of October's National Bullying Prevention Month.
