A man was shot while driving in Pasadena early Sunday morning, causing his SUV to crash into the porch of a house.

The shooting happened just before 12:30 a.m. near North Marengo Avenue and East Washington Boulevard.

Authorities say the man was driving his white BMW SUV when several gunshots were fired at him. The driver lost control and crashed into the house. The elderly woman living there was not hurt.

"I heard the hit, and I thought it was an earthquake," homeowner Joyce Isaacs said. "I didn't move, but then later on I heard the shots, and I heard somebody say 'call the police,' and then the policeman showed up."

The driver was taken to a hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Police are still searching for the suspect.
