Police are searching for two sexual assault suspects who abducted a woman on a South Los Angeles street Tuesday night.

At about midnight Tuesday a woman walking near Normandie Avenue and 54th Street was approached by two Hispanic men who forced her into a vehicle, the LAPD said.

The suspects drove the 1990s blue 4-door compact vehicle to an unspecified location and sexually assaulted the woman. The suspect became distracted, police said, and the woman escaped the vehicle. The suspects then fled the location.

The suspects were described as two Hispanic men about 27 years old, about 5 feet 6 to 5 feet 8 inches tall. One suspect has a teardrop tattoo under his left eye.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to contact 77th Street Area Sexual Assault Detectives Durden or Martinez at (213) 473-4807 or (213) 473-4809.

During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to (877) LAPD-24-7. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS. Tipsters may also contact Crime Stoppers by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most keypads) with a cellphone. All text messages should begin with the letters "LAPD." Tipsters may also go to www.LAPDOnline.org, click on "webtips" and follow the prompts.
