BREA, Calif. (KABC) -- Authorities are searching a landfill in Brea as part of their investigation into the disappearance of a mentally sharp 82-year-old woman.
On Thursday, investigators said they were looking for evidence in the landfill. But on Friday, they were looking for a body.
On Wednesday night Orange County Sheriff's deputies found a truck they believed could be connected to the elderly woman's disappearance.
Sara Mowry, 82, was reported missing on Tuesday from a senior home in Laguna Niguel. Her son had became very worried when he couldn't get a hold of her.
Police said when her son entered her apartment, there was no sign of her. She left behind medication, her hearing aid, her purse and her walker that she used to get around.
A wheelchair that she rarely used was missing, but the leg supports to it were left behind, something she would have needed if she were using it.
"There are some inconsistencies in her checking account, that's all I can say at this stage of the investigation," said Jim Amormino from the O.C. Sheriff's Department.
Authorities found the Toyota Tacoma that they believed may be connected to the disappearance in Santa Ana Wednesday night.
The driver of the truck is a parolee and is currently in custody for not checking in with his parole officer. Police said the driver is also an acquaintance of Sara Mowry's grandson.
Mowry's grandson was the last person to visit Mowry on Monday night.
Mowry is 5 feet, 4 inches tall, about 145 pounds, with brown eyes and gray hair.
Authorities said she does not suffer from dementia, so it is unlikely she wandered off on her own.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Orange County Sheriff's Department at (866) TIP-OCSD.
