LAGUNA BEACH (KABC) -- A legal place for homeless people to sleep in Laguna Beach is set to open this Thursday.
The city council allocated $235,000 to convert a parking lot into a temporary shelter.
The city is paying charities to run the facility through June.
This is in response to an increase in the number of homeless frequenting the area.
They're being told to park their cars, campers and sleeping gear away from the beach.
The city is also closing beaches in the early morning hours to everyone but runners, walkers, divers and people fishing.
