COSTA MESA, Calif. (KABC) -- A Costa Mesa teenager is behind bars for allegedly stabbing her mother several times during an argument.
Police say 18-year-old Andrea Simpson attacked her mother inside their apartment Friday with a large kitchen knife, and then ran off.
The mother, Alice Simpson, suffered injuries to her upper back, arms and chest. She is expected to be OK. She told officers that her daughter has a history of mental illness.
Police found the teenager in Huntington Beach and arrested her for assault with a deadly weapon. She is being held on $25,000 bail.
