A group of Costa Mesa neighbors teamed up to catch a burglary suspect Sunday morning.

Police said a man and his wife found the intruder inside their home in the 2000 block of Republic Avenue.

According to officers, the husband chased the man down the street and struggled with him. Several other neighbors then ran to help. They held the suspect down until police arrived.

Police arrested 24-year-old Gerardo Garcilazo. They said he had stolen items from at least three nearby homes.

Garcilazo was treated at the hospital for a broken nose and other injuries.
