GARDEN GROVE, Calif. (KABC) -- The Crystal Cathedral hosted its first Catholic event Wednesday.
More than 1,200 people attended the seventh annual Orange County Catholic Prayer Breakfast.
The event's purpose was to bring Catholics throughout the diocese together to pray and celebrate their faith. The breakfast's keynote speaker was George Weigel.
The celebration officially kicked off the former cathedral's transformation into the Christ Cathedral.
The Roman Catholic Diocese purchased the bankrupt church and its grounds for more than $57 million last year.
