Fifteen illegal immigrants were taken into custody in Newport Beach as they were being smuggled onboard a cabin cruiser.

The bust happened Thursday afternoon after the sheriff's harbor patrol saw something suspicious on the pleasure craft in Newport Harbor.

The illegal immigrants were found hidden in the bottom of the cabin cruiser. All 15 were taken to the San Clemente Border Patrol Station to be interviewed and processed.

It was not immediately known how many suspected smugglers were arrested.
