OC teen skateboarder killed in car crash

A 14-year-old boy was killed after being struck by a car in Placentia. The child was trying to retrieve his skateboard.

Police say the boy was struck by a pick-up truck on Rose Drive, just north of Castner Drive Friday night.

The driver, who remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation, was not arrested or cited, police said. The teen was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, where he was pronounced dead. His identity was not released.
