SANTA ANA, Calif. (KABC) -- The city of Santa Ana held its first ever gun buyback event Saturday.
Authorities collected a total of 236 weapons, including handguns, long guns and rifles - no questions asked. Those who surrendered the weapons were given gift cards worth up to $200.
Police said that although the program is not a permanent solution to gun violence, it helps reduce the amount of firearms that can be used in crimes.
