IRVINE, Calif. (KABC) -- An Irvine family and their beloved pet are safe after escaping a fire at their home.
The flames broke out Tuesday night on Sandstone near Lemongrass. A couple and their three children escaped the fire. One of them suffered a minor first degree burn. Firefighters rescued the family's black lab and even gave it oxygen.
One firefighter was taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion. He has since been released.
