BUENA PARK, Calif. (KABC) -- An investigation is underway into a two-car crash involving an officer with the Buena Park Police Department.

The crash happened around 8:45 p.m. Friday. Police say a black SUV rear-ended a Buena Park patrol car near La Palma and Stanton avenues.

Both the officer and the driver were transported to an area hospital. The officer suffered moderate injuries, the driver has minor injuries.

It's unclear if police cited or arrested the driver.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
