Friends and family gathered in Seal Beach Saturday to mark the solemn two-year anniversary of a deadly shooting at a salon.

Saturday marked two years since a gunman opened fire at Salon Meritage, killing eight people. It was the worst mass murder in Orange County history.

Friends of one of the victims, 64-year-old David Caouette, gathered to honor his memory. They say Caouette was particularly passionate about off-roading in his Land Rover and the outdoors.

"Not only was he a family man, but he extended all his knowledge out to people that he didn't know and in the Land Rover community and the clubs and everybody he met off-roading," said Darrin Simmons, the victim's friend.

Caouette was shot outside the salon. Eight people died in the shooting massacre. Only one person survived.

The suspect, Scott Dekraai, is expected to go on trial in March of 2014. He is charged with killing eight people, including his ex-wife Michelle Fournier in the Oct. 12, 2011 shooting rampage.
