Thousand Oaks man arrested for allegedly making fake bomb threat

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (KABC) -- A Thousand Oaks man has been arrested after he allegedly called in a fake bomb threat to a business.

Brandon Wimsatt, 23, is accused of calling the Burlington Coat Factory in Thousand Oaks on May 28 and saying there was a bomb in the store. Police officers responded and searched the business but no bomb or suspicious device was found.

Detectives said they launched an investigation and learned Wimsatt's phone was used to call in the threat.

"The investigation also revealed Wimsatt took steps to hide his phone number from being discovered," Ventura County Sheriff's det. Tim Lanquist said in his report.

Wimsatt was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of falsely reporting a bomb to a business and was booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility. He was being held on $10,000 bail.
