Ventura shooting investigation under way

An investigation is under way after two men were shot during an altercation in Ventura.

Police said the shooting occurred in the area of the Ventura beachfront promenade near the Crown Plaza Ventura Beach Hotel around 1:43 a.m.

Responding officers found two men, both 23 years old, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim's were allegedly walking in the area of the promenade when one of the suspects physically attacked one of the victims. During the confrontation, one of the two suspects began firing a gun.

The suspects then fled the area and were last seen running across Harbor Boulevard near California Street.

Ventura police searched the area to no avail.

The victims were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspects were described as two Hispanic males between their late teens and early 20's. Both suspects were last seen wearing dark clothing.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information related to the shooting was asked to contact Detective Sutherland at (805) 339-4467.
