OXNARD, Calif. (KABC) -- Two people were killed when a small plane crashed and burst into flames in a field near the Oxnard Airport, FAA officials said.
Officials were dispatched to the scene in an agricultural field between Wooly Road and Victoria Avenue around 12:10 p.m.
Responding Oxnard firefighters found a small single engine plane that was destroyed and burned upon impact.
Officials said the plane was headed to the Oxnard Airport.
No one was injured on the ground. The two victims were the only people on board.
No property damage was reported.
Circumstances surrounding the crash remain unknown. The cause of the crash was under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board.
