Domestic dispute turns fatal in Ventura

A domestic dispute took a deadly turn in Ventura after a 65-year-old woman was fatally struck and a second woman injured Wednesday.

The incident occurred near a home in the 1200 block of Halifax Court.

Police received a call of a domestic violence call, involving a male and a female, around 10:55 a.m.

Before officers arrived, the suspect who had reportedly left the scene returned to the area and collided with a 65-year-old female bystander in the front yard of her residence.

The 65-year-old victim was pinned underneath the vehicle and had to be extracted by the Ventura Fire Department. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not been released pending notification of kin.

Erik Lopez, 18, of Ventura was booked for gross vehicular manslaughter, assault with a deadly weapon, spousal battery and child endangerment.

The circumstances that led to bystander being struck by the vehicle were under investigation.

The victim of the domestic dispute sustained minor injuries. Her identity has not been released.
