A masked suspect robbed an ice cream parlor in Ventura by threatening the clerk at knifepoint.

Ventura police say a male suspect wearing a ski mask barged into the Baskin-Robbins in the 2800 block of East Main Street at about 9:35 p.m. Tuesday. The suspect brandished a knife and demanded money.

Investigators say the clerk forced his way around the counter, where he placed the knife against the clerk's back. The clerk complied with the suspect's demands and handed over an undisclosed amount of cash from the register.

The suspect fled the store and was last seen running west in the alley behind the business.

Officers responded to the scene within minutes but were unable to locate the suspect. He was described as a white male in his 20s wearing a ski mask, gray sweatshirt, white undershirt and tan pants.

The clerk sustained a minor injury during the incident and chose to seek her own medical attention.

This investigation is ongoing. If you have any information about this incident, you're urged to contact the Ventura Police Department at (805) 339-4441.
