Celebrities Attend World Economic Forum

Thursday, January 26, 2006

Two Hollywood heavyweights are in Switzerland for the 2006 World Economic Forum.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have arrived in Davos where Jolie as a goodwill envoy for the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees will take part in the forum. This is the second time she has attended the conference.

Pitt has joined her on several trips while serving in her U.N. capacity.

Jolie will join fifteen heads of state or government and 60 cabinet ministers as well as business leaders, top writers, architects and composers at Davos' Belvedere Hotel. U2 front man and debt relief advocate Bono; Brazilian literary superstar Paulo Coelho and musician Peter Gabriel are among the other celebrities attending.

The four-day meeting of some of the most prominent minds on the planet is held in the exclusive Alpine resort to brainstorm on key issues facing the globe: Iran's nuclear program, high oil prices, new business models, and the shifting balance of power in Asia.

Pitt and Jolie are expecting their first child together in the next five months or so.
