CAMARILLO, Calif. (KABC) -- Cool Kid Alec Loorz is concerned with global warming. Alec was inspired by a certain Oscar-winning documentary. However, he had to do it in his own way.
"I originally wanted to just give Al Gore's presentation, because he was training 1,000 people to give it. So I applied online and they told me I was too young. You have to be 14, I was only 12," said Alec. "So I created my own presentation, and I've been giving it ever since."

Young as he might be, Alec sees himself spreading his message for quite a while.
"If you say it once, no one's going to listen. But if you keep driving for it, that's when you get people to listen to you and get them to make change," said Alec.
Traveling all over California speaking to children and adults, Alec feels that he has found his purpose.
"It makes me feel like I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing. Like I'm accomplishing what I mean to accomplish," said Alec. "I want to motivate people to make change, and it's really working, and I love that feeling."
Whatever age group he speaks to, Alec knows it is his peers that have a unique perspective and responsibility.
"I think at the end, that we are the ones being affected. We need to be taking action. We need to go out in the community. Our voices do matter. It's not just about global warming. Our voices matter about everything," said Alec.
Stimulating young minds, leading people to change locally and globally, he is our Cool Kid, Alec Loorz.
