Vista L.A. broadcast June 12, 2011
LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- This week on Vista L.A.: Culture Clash, Jesus Trevino, CENTRO, Ernie D., and female mariachis.
Culture Clash -- 25 years
Before George Lopez or Carlos Mencia landed on the national comedy scene, there was "Culture Clash" -- the performance trio that revolutionized comedy among Latinos. In 1993, Culture Clash made television history when they were signed to star in the first Latino-themed sketch comedy show on a major network. They've performed in some of the most prestigious theaters across the country, including several shows at L.A.'s Mark Taper Forum. The "Culture Clash" trio -- which consists of Ric Salinas, Richard Montoya and Herbert Siguenza -- recently celebrated their 25th year of entertaining American audiences and breaking down cultural barriers.

Director Jesus S. Treviño
While documenting the Mexican-American experience during the Civil Rights movement, award-winning director Jesus S. Treviño was inspired to change Hollywood. The pioneering Chicano filmmaker was recently honored by the Directors Guild of America for his groundbreaking career in film and television that has opened doors for generations of Latino filmmakers.
In 2010, Treviño will launch www.latinopia.com, a Web site that will showcase Latino talent in art, literature, theatre, cinema, and chronicle Latino history. The site will also serve as a base for the production of original dramas featuring stories that are written, produced, directed and star Latinos.
