LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A 4.3-magnitude earthquake was felt across the Los Angeles region on Thursday, but there were no reports of damage.
It was just over a week ago that the East Coast was abuzz after a 5.8-magnitude quake hit the area. Thursday's quake reminded Southland residents that they live in the middle of earthquake country.
"I thought it was going to be like the big one that everyone has been waiting for," said Daniel Carrasco of Newhall.
The quake was centered four miles east southeast of Newhall at 1:47 p.m. PT.
"I happened to be walking along here in Newhall, and all of a sudden, I thought a truck hit the building," said Steve Hagins of Newhall.
The earthquake wasn't strong enough to topple anything over from the shelves at one Newhall grocery store, but it was felt all across the Los Angeles area, including Long Beach, Woodland Hills and Burbank.
According to Caltech seismologist Kate Hutton, the earthquake was fairly shallow. Experts have not yet determined which fault the quake was on.
About an hour after the first earthquake, a 3.0-magnitude aftershock was felt in the same area.

The earthquake was originally reported as a 4.2, but it was upgraded to a 4.3.
