BALI, Indonesia (KABC) -- Dozens of people are injured after a strong earthquake rocked a popular Indonesian tourist resort.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the 6.1-magnitude quake struck about 60 miles south of the island of bail on Thursday, and hit 21 miles beneath the ocean floor.
Although not strong enough to trigger a tsunami, the quake was felt on neighboring Java and Lombok islands.
The quake did cause lots of damage. More than 50 people were hospitalized, some with serious injuries.
Indonesia straddles a series of fault lines that makes the vast island nation prone to volcanic and seismic activity.
The Associated Press contributed to this story.
