7.0-magnitude earthquake strikes Colombia

MEXICO CITY (KABC) -- A powerful earthquake shook western Colombia and Ecuador on Saturday, but there were no immediate reports of damage.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the 7.0-magnitude quake hit at about 6:16 a.m. PT. It was centered 7 miles southwest of Pasto and 77 miles below the surface.

The temblor was felt widely across Colombia and neighboring Ecuador but local officials did not report damages or injuries.
