Rancho Fire in Lebec 92 percent contained

LEBEC, KERN COUNTY (KABC) -- More than 450 firefighters continue to make progress on the so-called Rancho Fire in the Kern County town of Lebec.

The brush fire started near the southbound 5 Freeway and Fort Tejon around noon Friday. The Kern County Fire Department says the blaze has burned 722 acres and was 92 percent contained Sunday.

Nearly two dozen homes in the Oaks Knolls area were evacuated. The fire department says those evacuations were lifted and all roads were reopened Saturday evening.

Officials say crews are working on improving the lines around the fire and repairing disturbed soil caused by fire damage.

Crews from Kern County, the Los Angeles County Fire Department, U.S. Forest Service and Cal Fire were fighting the flames. Two water-dropping helicopters were also brought in to help contain the fire.

One injury has been reported. No structures have been damaged. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
