Andres Araiza

Andres Araiza
Andres Araiza has humbly accepted a journalist's sacred role: an eyewitness to history. Andres' career wound through historic and devastating natural disasters. Andres covered the 2007 destructive wild fires that ravaged San Diego County and tore through Malibu. He also reported from Louisiana on Hurricane Katrina's tragic aftermath and the landfall of Hurricane Rita along the Texas coast.

Andres received statewide and national recognition for his work. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences bestowed an Emmy Nomination to Andres. The William Randolph Hearst Foundation also recognized him for his reporting in Texas.

Corpus Christi, Texas is where Andres calls home. He was born and raised in the small, coastal city where Andres' grandfather Francisco "Panchito" Fregoso inspired him to pursue a career in journalism. Mr. Fregoso worked more than 25 years as a journalist and DJ for a popular Spanish language radio station. Mr. Fregoso showed a young Andres that news impacts people and excellent reporting inspires change and action.

Andres graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor's in Journalism. He is a proud Texan but enjoys living in California. When Andres is not reporting the news, you can find him hanging around his neighborhood the Tower District or exploring the Golden State.
