John-Thomas Kobos joined the Action News 30 news staff in June of 2007.

Kobos comes from Alexandria, Louisiana where he worked as a general assignment reporter/fill-in anchor at KALB-TV. While at KALB he covered both Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and their impact on the area and the lives of residents in central Louisiana. Kobos was the military beat reporter assigned to Ft. Polk. He covered a variety of military stories including the I-E-D and convoy training of American and Afghanistan soldiers. He was also involved in early coverage of the "Jena Six" and the racial tension that eventually lead to national protests in a small Louisiana town. He was recognized by the Louisiana AP for his spot news reporting and by Ft. Polk officials for his coverage of military and post issues.

Kobos grew up in Houston, Texas. He attended Ithaca College (New York) and graduated from Houston Baptist University with a BA degree in psychology and mass communication. He's worked behind the scenes at KUHT-TV(PBS) and interned at KHCW (WB) and sister station KTRK (ABC) in Houston. He has done volunteer work at the Boys and Girls Club in Alexandria and served as a board member.

Kobos says he became interested in TV journalism while watching his father who has been in TV news for over 30 years. His dad was a reporter at KTRK-TV in Houston for 18 years and has been assistant news director since 2000.

Kobos enjoys cooking particularly many of his mother's great Southern and Polish recipes.
