As our Sacramento Bureau Chief, Nannette Miranda covers Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Legislature and statewide issues on a daily basis. ABC-30 Action News is the first Fresno television station to permanently place a correspondent at the State Capitol since California's historic recall election in October of 2003.
Nannette has a Masters of Science degree in journalism from Columbia University in New York City. She did her undergrad work at the University of California at Berkeley, majoring in Mass Communications. Nannette spent time building up her journalistic experience in markets like Shreveport, Louisiana, Albuquerque, New Mexico and Tampa, Florida. As an avid traveler who has visited more than 33 countries, her most interesting assignment was the year she spent on a tropical island. Nannette worked for Marianas CableVision in Saipan, the Northern Marianas Islands, out in the Pacific near Asia.
Her news reporting earned Nannette a first place for "Best Breaking News Report" in 2003 through the Society of Professional Journalists-Florida. The award was for her story on the teenager who crashed his small plane into a Tampa skyscraper to imitate the 9/11 hijackers. She also earned the same organization's Sunshine State Award in "Best Foreign Reporting" in 2002 for her report on the Peruvian Presidential elections vs. the U.S. Presidential election.
Nannette grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her reports can also be seen on other ABC-owned stations, KGO-TV in San Francisco and KABC-TV in Los Angeles.
