Sara Sandrik

Sara Sandrik
Sara Sandrik joined the Action News team as the North Valley Bureau Chief in February of 2007.

Sara began her career in television news working behind the scenes at the ABC affiliate in San Francisco. From there she moved on to become an award-winning anchor, reporter, and producer at KYMA-TV in Yuma, Arizona. During her time in the desert southwest, Sara covered President George W. Bush's visit to the U.S./Mexico border, interviewed Senator John McCain, and went skydiving for a story with the Army's Golden Knights...twice!

Sara graduated with honors from Stanford University, where she also played for the 2001 National Champion volleyball team.

Sara also played basketball and high-jumped in high school, and she recently ran her first half-marathon. Along with athletics, she enjoys traveling and keeping in touch with family and friends across the country.

Sara was recently honored with an Arizona Associated Press award for a story titled "Beyond the Border."

The story follows the process of illegal immigrant apprehension from the search to the capture to the processing and release. It shows the struggle that takes place at the U.S./Mexico border every day between border patrol agents who are determined to keep illegal immigrants with criminal backgrounds out of the country and the Mexican citizens who are searching for a better life. It also shows the frustration of agents who catch and release the same people time and time again as well as the desperation of illegal immigrants in need of better paying jobs for their families.
