Sontaya Rose

Sontaya Rose
When a Catholic priest stunned his congregation on October 5th, 2008 by going against the Church's stand on Proposition 8, the initiative to eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry, Sontaya Rose was the only local reporter who watched as he delivered a controversial statement to his parish. During a one-on-one interview before Mass, Father Geoff Farrow also confided in Sontaya, he is gay. The story has made national headlines and has drawn interest from around the world.

Sontaya's specialty is investigative news reporting and she is constantly working on and off the clock to break stories. She was the first reporter in the country to track down Amber Frey and question her about her relationship with Scott Peterson. Sontaya was also the only reporter to interview real estate mogul Donald Trump in May 2007, when he secretly jetted into to Fresno to survey the Running Horse development as a possible investment.

Sontaya has a unique intensity and competitive spirit. Her drive and personality help land her some of the most sought out stories in the Central Valley.

Fresno is home for Sontaya. She was born and raised here. Her passion for journalism began at Clovis High School in Mr. Menendian's English class. She started as a feature writer for the school newspaper and after a year earned the title of Editor of the Cougar's Growl.

Sontaya stays very busy. When she isn't chasing news stories, Sontaya and her husband Eric are chasing their three young children. Weekends are typically spent on soccer fields rooting on the kids!

When she gets the opportunity, Sontaya loves to travel. Her favorite destination is her father's native country, Thailand. She also likes taking in the beauty of plumeria flowers in Hawaii.

Any chance she gets, Sontaya enjoys gardening and reading up on the latest real estate news. She also loves watching golf and is a big Tiger Woods fan.
