Prior to ABC 30, DeShaunta worked at FOX 17 in Nashville, TN. It was there she received honors from the US Marine Corps for a series she did in 2007 profiling new recruits at Parris Island and why they enlisted after the September 11th terrorist attacks.
At the height of the Iraq War, DeShaunta worked at WNCT in Greenville, NC where she embedded with U.S. Marine units. In 2007, she traveled with troops to New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, and reported on the resilience of those devastated by the floods.
DeShaunta began her reporting career at KAIT in Jonesboro, before then the North Carolina native worked behind the scenes at WRAL-TV in Raleigh, North Carolina.
She holds a Bachelors Degree in Mass Communication and Journalism from North Carolina State University.
