A kayaker got a giant surprise as he kayaked off the shore of Redondo Beach. He got inches away from a blue whale, the largest animal on earth.
The YouTube poster described the experience from a few weeks ago as "heart pounding excitement."
After the whale surfaced for a second time the kayaker jumped in to get a closer look. He later said that he wouldn't encourage anyone to try and swim with these whales.
The National Marine Fisheries Service says that whale's should not be interrupted because doing so can cause them to rapidly change direction, which can have major consequences for human-size creatures.
