Citrus planting drops in California

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- California farmers are planting fewer navel oranges and mandarins this year than last year.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture just released a report showing the navel orange crop is down 1,000 acres. The report estimates mandarin crop will also be down by more than 1,000 acres.

The biggest drop in will come from Tulare and Kern counties. The report shows the acreage shrunk because a large number of trees were taken out of production this year.
