Walnut growers expect large harvest

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- This year's walnut harvest is set to become the third largest in California history.

Harvest is now underway, and the National Agricultural Statistics Service expects it to be about 495-thousand tons. Growers saw a larger harvest only last year and in 2010.

San Joaquin County is the number one producer of walnuts here in California, providing about 75 percent of the world trade.
