FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Holiday travelers hitting the road this weekend may have noticed the price of a gallon of gas hit the highest pre-Christmas levels in history.
The average price in Fresno was $3.29 per gallon up four cents in two weeks.
The cost of gas in Visalia also rose four cents to $3.28. And the price of gas in Merced was up two cents to $3.26.
One Shell station in Downtown Fresno is selling gas for $3.34 a gallon this weekend.
The national average price of gas has increased 30 cents per gallon since Labor Day and it shows no sign of stopping.
The price hike is being blamed on China's surging economy and price speculators.
