Hundreds turn out for Valley call center job fair

Saturday, November 17, 2012

A local call center is adding 400 full-time positions, including some at the management level.

Hundreds of people showed up on Saturday for a chance to land one of those spots. Cristi Newston was determined to find a job. She's been out of work for over a year.

"It's pretty tough. Unemployment is going to run out and there's not going to be anything so I am looking for anything available," said Newton.

Newton is optimistic this in-person interview with Alorica will help her get back into the work force. "Most of my searches have been online and I've had two interviews," she said.

Alorica's call center in Fresno and Clovis is looking to hire people to keep up with the company's growth. On Saturday every candidate who applied took a test which included undergoing mock customer service calls.

New hires are expected to start as soon as the first week of December.
