FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Action News was at Wolters Elementary School in Northeast Fresno Friday morning when students received a very special surprise.
Children cheered when they learned they would be receiving free backpacks.
250 packs were stuffed with much needed school supplies, including folders, pencils and erasers that will help them get through the year.
More than 83 percent of students in the Fresno Unified School District qualify for free or reduced meal prices, making donations like this a big help for their academic success.
Today's giveaway was made possible by United Way of Fresno County and Comcast.
