LOS ANGELES, January 28, 2007 -- Angelina Jolie's mother has died.
Marcheline Bertrand died Saturday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after a seven-year battle with cancer, according to a statement released by Jolie's manager. No age was given, but the Internet Movie Database says Bertrand was 56.
The statement says Jolie, Brad Pitt and her older brother, James Haven, were at the hospital.
As an actress, Bertrand had small roles in the movies "Lookin' to Get Out" in 1982 and "The Man Who Loved Women" in 1983. She raised Jolie and her brother after divorcing their father, Oscar-winning actor Jon Voight, when Jolie was a toddler.
A private funeral is planned.
