GOSHEN, CA (KFSN) -- Tulare County is holding the first of its H1N1 flu vaccine clinics Tuesday, and like the clinics in Fresno and Merced counties, health officials are expecting large crowds.
Tulare County health officials are holding their vaccination clinics at public schools for a reason. They want to stress: these clinics are for the highest priority groups including young people between six-months-old and 24-years-old and people who care for babies under six months.
The county is on its second shipment of about 10,000 doses of the vaccine.
In Fresno Monday more than 3,000 people packed the Mosqueda Center to get a free H1N1 flu shot. It was Fresno County's third H1N1 clinic, and the first to also offer the regular flu shot.
The turnout was so large, county health officials had to turn some people away. Even with that, people were being vaccinated hours after the clinic was supposed to be closed.
But there are more clinics planned across the Valley.
Tulare County will hold its first H1N1 flu clinics Tuesday afternoon from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Carl Smith Middle School in Terra Bella, and in Goshen, at Goshen Elementary.
The Merced County Health Department will also hold a clinic today. It runs from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Health Department building on 15th Street.
Kings County's first clinics are this Saturday. In Tulare County there have been over 90 hospitalized with H1N1, and two deaths related to H1N1.
