Decline in H1N1 Flu Cases, Seasonal Flu on the Rise

Fresno, CA (KFSN) -- Valley doctors say they're seeing a drop in the number of H1N1 flu cases, but seasonal flu cases are on the rise.

Nearly 15 hundred people attended Fresno County's fifth H1N1 flu clinic at Washington Union High School in Easton.

Doctors at Children's Hospital say their emergency room is back to normal and there are fewer H1N1 cases.

This comes after the Centers for Disease Control and prevention reported the number of patients treated for H1N1 symptoms is declining.

But Valley doctors say they are beginning to see the first cases of seasonal flu. Fresno County Health Department officials say more people received seasonal flu vaccines this fall. They are unsure if H1N1 cases will continue to decline.

David Luchini with the Fresno County Health Department said, "Of course this is a pandemic and it does go in phases so you will see peaks and Valleys and we do anticipate another peak coming up sometime soon."

Health officials say those in high risk groups like children and pregnant women should still be vaccinated against the seasonal and H1N1 flu.
