Teacher Accepts Plea Deal in Student Sex Case

Friday, November 04, 2005

A South Valley teacher will spend 180 days in jail after accepting a plea deal.

Elisa Kawasaki was accused of having sex with a student.

The former Hanford West High School teacher was sentenced to 180 days in jail and five year probation.

She will not have to register as a sex offender, but her teaching credentials were revoked and she can't be around children without adult supervision.

Police say Kawasaki started having a sexual relationship with her 16-year-old student earlier this year.

His mother alerted authorities when she discovered Kawasaki's phone number listed several times on her son's cell phone.
