Visalia, CA, USA (KFSN) -- A south valley organization is taking a unique approach to promote breastfeeding.
The Tulare County Breastfeeding Coalition debuted its new "Baby Cafe" at the Visalia Farmer's Market Thursday night.
The tent gives mothers a cool, private place to nurse their babies. It also offers information about the benefits of breastfeeding for mothers and their babies.
Karen Pringle, Prenatal Services Coordinator: "Babies are going to get sick less often ... antibodies breastfeeding will give you."
Coalition members say Tulare County has one of the lowest breastfeeding rates in the state. But they say the Baby Cafe had a great turnout and now they plan to expand the program to other events, like local health fairs.
