Fire causes damage at a Fresno hardware store

Wednesday, January 05, 2011

A Fresno hardware store caught fire causing tens of thousands of dollars in damage.

Just after 6 a.m. Wednesday the Fresno Fire Department went to the Orchard Supply Hardware Store at Blackstone and Barstow. Smoke and flames were in the front of the store when they arrived.

The fire appears to have started under a cash register in the front of the store. The damage to the store is estimated to be between $50,000 and $75,000.

The fire department says the building's sprinkler system kept the fire from being much worse.
