The California Highway Patrol says Sebastian Mosqueda and his mother Monserrat Caracoza were taken from their Porterville home early Tuesday morning.
Tulare County Sheriff's Detectives were at the victims' house just outside of Porterville. They were collecting evidence and interviewing three family members who were at the home at the time of the abduction.
Sheriff's Deputies said around 2 a.m. the family heard a big commotion coming from where 8-month-old Sebastian Mosqueda and his mother, 18-year-old Monserate Carcacoza. They say the suspect, 23-year-old Pedro Mosqueda, broke into the house through Caracoza's window and took off with the two of them in his car.
Deputies say the suspect is little Sebastian's father and Monserate Carcacoza's estranged boyfriend.
Right now officers don't believe the suspect is armed but are concerned for Sebastian and his mother's safety.
"We've put all the resources into his that we can, we have an Amber Alert out we've had aircraft checking the area. We have detectives from all our investigations units. We have resources from other agencies assisting the at this time we're continuing to follow all leads," said Lt. Chris Wenzinger with the Tulare County Sheriff's office.
The Tulare County Sheriff's Office has gotten some leads but so far none have led them to 8-month-old Sebastian and his 18-year-old mother Monseratt Caracoza.
If you have any information on either the suspect or victims whereabouts -- or if you've seen the Red 1991 Honda Civic you're asked to immediately call 911 or the Tulare County Sheriff's Office.
